Maya Gym & Fitness Center runs this website and the Maya Gym & Fitness Center app. This policy explains what we collect when you train with us, why we need it, who can see it, and how to have it removed.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email, phone number and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Your member record: address, emergency contact, and any health notes you choose to give the desk.
- Attendance: the times you check in with your QR code.
- Training: your goals, workout plans, the sets you log, streaks and badges.
- Payments: membership dates, amounts, and receipt photos you upload for Telebirr or bank transfers.
- Photos: a profile or receipt photo, only when you choose to add one.
- Messages: anything you send through the contact form.
We do not collect your location, contacts, or anything from other apps on your phone.
Why we use it
- To run your membership: check-ins, renewals, receipts and reminders.
- To build and track your training plan and show your progress.
- To keep you safe: staff can see health notes and your emergency contact.
- To contact you about your membership, classes and reminders.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who can see it
Gym staff see what they need to run your membership. Your coach sees your goals, plan and workout logs. Other members see nothing about you.
If you link Telegram, reminders are sent through Telegram and are subject to its own privacy policy.
Where it is kept
Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in Johannesburg, South Africa, reached only over an encrypted connection. Encrypted backups are kept for 90 days. On your phone, the app keeps your sign-in in the phone's secure storage.
How long we keep it
We keep your record while you are a member. Payment records may be kept longer where Ethiopian tax law requires. Everything else is deleted when you ask us to, as below.
Your choices and deleting your account
- You can see and correct your details in the app under Profile, or at the desk.
- You can switch off Telegram and email notices in the app's notification settings.
- To delete your account, open the app and go to Profile → Delete my account, or contact us below. We confirm with you, then delete your account, check-in history and workout records within 30 days.
Children
If a member is under 18, their parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete the child's data at any time.
Changes and contact
